Masters Show Case Evening

The School of Nursing and Midwifery hosted a show case evening on the 9th September 2014. This evening afforded the opportunity for some of the Master’s students coming to the end of their studies to disseminate their work. Invited guest from our local partners in particular NHS Grampian attended; and the 2014 September cohort of the MSc Advanced Nursing practice and the MSc Advanced district Nursing were able to hear about the student experience and visualise the end point.

The masters’ students presentation were well received and covered a range of areas of practice:
• Cardiothoracic nurses’ experiences of work-based learning and the perceived impact on knowledge, skills and clinical practice
• Enhancing the current understanding, knowledge and application of mental health laws of acute general hospital healthcare staff in relation to patients who lack capacity
• Evaluation of the uptake of online mentor support resources

The evening was concluded by looking at the next steps. A PHd student shared part of her work:
• IBriS Study: Intervention supporting Breastfeeding for substance dependent woman.
This was concluded by Dr Karen Strickland, Associate Head of School discussing the process of further dissemination through publication.
